History
In the beginning was love. The history of SCU began with “Love Thy Neighbor” at its foundation.
MILESTONES OF SEIREI CHRISTOPHER UNIVERSITY (SCU)
SCU plays a starring role in education and research in the Seirei Group. Their first activity was started by young Christians back in 1930 when they helped a tubercular patient using their belief of “Love thy Neighbor” from the Christion philosophy. SCU cultivates professionals in the fields of health care, social work and education with spirit of human dignity and neighborly love. The educational goal of SCU is to nurture students to become healthcare professionals who provide care with the ethic of neighborly Love and to have compassion for the pains of others as well as passion for working with people of other health care professions.

| 1930 | The founder, Tamotsu Hasegawa, and his fellow Christians started to take care of tuberculosis patients. |
| 1949 | Enshu Christian School was established. |
| 1952 | Enshu Christian School changed its name to Seirei Vocational School of Practical Nursing. |
| 1959 | Seirei Vocational School of Practical Nursing changed its name to Seirei School of Practical Nursing. |
| 1966 | Seirei Gakuen High School Nursing Course was established. |
| 1969 | Seirei Gakuen Junior College of Nursing was established for the Seirei Gakuen high school graduates. |
| 1978 | A school for Social Workers and Medical Assistances was established. |
| 1980 | A Midwifery Course was opened within Seirei Gakuen Junior College of Nursing. |
| 1988 | Seirei Training School of Care Work was established. |
| 1992 | Seirei Christopher College of Nursing was established. |
| 1998 | A Master's Program in the School of Nursing was opened. |
| 2002 | Seirei Christopher College of Nursing changed its name to Seirei Christopher University and opened School of Social Work. (Seirei Training School of Care Work was integrated into the new School). |
| 2004 | A school of Rehabilitation Sciences and a Master's Program in the School of Social Work were opened. |
| 2006 | A Master's Program in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences was opened. |
| 2007 | Advanced Program in Midwifery was opened in the School of Nursing. |
| 2008 | A Bachelor's Program in Child Education and Social Work was opened in the School of Social Work. |
| 2011 | Graduate Programs in the School of Nursing, Rehabilitation Sciences and Social Work were restructured into Master's and Doctoral Programs, respectively. |
| 2016 | Seirei Christopher University College of Care Work was established. |
| 2019 | International Rehabilitation Course for undergraduate programs was opened in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. |
| 2021 | International Baccalaureate (IB) Educator Certificates Program (PYP) was opened in the School of Social Work. |
