Seirei Christopher University

Greetings

Greeting from Chairman

Ryo Hasegawa
Chairman
Seirei Gakuen Educational Organization

I believe that as you study the history of Seirei, you will see several common threads from our founding by my father, Tamotsu Hasegawa, to the present. First, is the deep and abiding value of service to others. We define this value as “Love thy Neighbor”. By this, we mean to care for persons in need and to strive to make their life more fulfilling and to improve their quality of life. From the time of our educational organization’s founding in 1949, we have sought to always keep this ideal at the heart of everything we do. Our Christian history and roots still define Seirei Christopher University today and compel us to graduate students who have the spirit of “Service above Self” deeply implanted in their hearts.

In the very near future Seirei Gakuen Educational Organization will open the penultimate link in our global vision for the organization: In 2020 we opened Seirei Christopher Elementary school. This new school will accelerate our commitment to the highest world standards of education by being a World School, a designation given by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Switzerland. The new English immersion elementary school, designed and built from the ground up to be among the most effective and cutting edge primary schools in Japan, will drive forward a vision through our middle and high schools and into Seirei Christopher University. The final link in our global vision is to establish one of the first global-standard graduate level medical schools in Japan.

These new projects will give Seirei the opportunity to graduate students from Kindergarten through graduate medical studies who are dedicated to the values on which Seirei was founded and which still drive us forward today.

Greeting from President

Shohei Ohgi
President
Seirei Christopher University

Together, the faculty and staff of Seirei Christopher University are looking and working toward the future. At the heart of our history and our educational philosophy is first and foremost “Service to Others.” Our founder, Tamotsu Hasegawa called this “Service above Self.” We strive in everything with do to uphold this value: Love your neighbor as you would want to be loved. In parallel, this imperative is our commitment to the quality of education we all work to deliver to our students.

Quality education is at the heart of all our academic disciplines: Nursing, Social Welfare, and Rehabilitation Sciences. These academic departments focus on their degree and certificate programs on care for people in need. Again, it is with a heart for improving the quality and dignity of life for all those we care for that defines Seirei Christopher University. Finally, at the very center of our vision for the future is our enduring commitment to “globalization.”

Our Chairman, Ryo Hasegawa, has always put before us the commitment to being the best global citizen possible. While meeting the local needs of Japan in Healthcare and Education, we seek to nurture students who understand their own culture, have a deep appreciation for other cultures, and as a result, we all work to make Japan and our world a better place through our efforts.
